Italian Wedding Road Trip  |  TRAVEL

Two Weddings a week apart, treating us to all those amazing Italian cultures, landscapes and charismatic natives.  The hire cars’ first destination was from Milan to Lake Como.  The combination of crazy Italian drivers and winding roads lining one of THE most beautiful scenes, is forever in my heart, creating memories that last a lifetime.  This magical destination is of course a favourite among Wedding couples for a reason.  We too were engaged whilst on this trip, staying at the fabulous 12 bedroom Villa Lucia over looking the Lake, with views of the adorable Bellagio.  The first Wedding on this trip was held at Villa del Balbianello, a wonderful and very famous venue, with access for couples only by boat, giving all the romantic ‘feels’ you can handle.  This wonderful venue featured in Star Wars and James Bond, to name a few.

A short two day stopover here and then a four hour drive to Florence, popping into see our colleagues at the incredible Four Seasons to sample the very best in wine and beautiful food.  A luxury urban retreat nestled in the heart of the Italian streets, steeped in historic Florence beauty.  Strolling in Florence’s biggest private garden you are immersed in a tranquil haven of statues, fountains and centuries-old trees.  Another unique and wonderful city, the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture.

Siena, a quieter and smaller version of Florence, a city in central Italy’s Tuscany region, distinguished by its medieval brick buildings. Siena known for its stunning architecture, rich history, vibrant atmosphere, and fantastic local cuisine, not to mention its role as a gateway to explore Italy’s famous wine regions.  The fan-shaped central square, Piazza del Campo, is the site of the Palazzo Pubblico, the Gothic town hall, and Torre del Mangia, a slender 14th-century tower with sweeping views from its distinctive white crown.

The tuscan countryside was next on the agenda. Situated within one of the oldest and best-preserved estates in Tuscany, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is infused with breathtaking natural beauty, Italian heritage and lifestyle, and a vibrant culture defined by centuries of history and traditions.  A perfectly private Wedding venue jewel, where every detail and request is taken care of.

Our next stop was for the second Wedding in Orvieto, which found us crawling through VERY narrow but charming streets.  La Badia his renowned historical residence and is an ideal place for a celebration immersed in the scenario of the green Umbrian countryside, offering a unique sense of opulence and history. This unique venue was the host for the first two days of Wedding celebrations, starting with a lavish welcome party for family and friends.  Followed by a Wedding day to remember, in the on site stone chapel and captivating dinner space within the ruins. The third day was a pool party extravaganza with a tropical theme overlooking the hills and vineyards of the surrounding area.

Our final stop brought us to the magnificent Rome, where we were witness to some of the most dramatic thunder storms ever.  A final few days of true natural beauty and history visiting, The magnificent Colosseum, Fountain de Trevi ,The impressive Vatican, and Spanish Steps, finishing the day watching a beautiful sunset over the Piazza del Popolo whilst indulging in a few obligatory vinos.

Italy always steals my heart x
